NYC loved their list…now let’s take a look at Austin!
Home Slice Pizza & Frank Restaurant tie for the top spot. Which do you think is better?
Some of these sound familiar? Frank Restaurant, Juan in a Million, Fado Irish Pub, Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, Kenichi, La Condesa, Kerbey Lane, Chuy’s, and Uchiko were all on our big SXSW list.
Juan in a Million might just be the best...

[This is a guest post by Matt Silberstein (matt4c), a Fondu Ambassador in Denver]
We pulled into the strip mall’s narrow, pot hole ridden parking lot on a recent Denver Sunday afternoon. After tediously maneuvering the car into one last remaining space, we could barely wait for the food explosion soon to come. We hurriedly opened the door to Lao Wang Noodle House only to be told by a very...
How Fondu is Made (our technology stack)
This blog post, we’re taking a detour from food and dining and will be diving into the back-end technology stack that makes Fondu work. It’s something that we spend a ton of time thinking about and are really happy to share.
I’ll try to cover the technologies in a semi-cohesive manner but forgive me if it jumps around. This post covers a pretty broad, but specific, topic. This...

[This is a guest post by Elisa Mader (lagourmande), a Fondu Ambassador in Seattle, WA]
Since it began 10 years ago, Dine Around Seattle has become a beloved bi-annual fine dining tradition. Every March and November, many of the city’s top restaurants offer promotional $30, 3-course prix fixe dinner menus, Sundays through Thursdays, and some even offer $15 lunches. Here’s your chance to check out...
St. Pat’s in the Steel City
[This is a guest post by Karla Leskovsky (kleskovsky), a Fondu Ambassador in Pittsburgh, PA]
Saint Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year. In my world, that means indulging in a few more adult beverages than I normally would on a work night. In fact, being a Saturday means that a full day of St. Pat’s festivities is in store. In planning for such a day one needs to consider a few things....

Good Spirits/Edible Manhattan
[This is a guest post by Adrienne Stillman, a Fondu Ambassador in New York, NY]
This Tuesday Edible Manhattan sponsored a fantastic event dubbed Good Spirits. Designed to encourage “liquid symbiosis” between some of New York’s (and other local) chefs, mixologists, distillers and other food artisans. The line up was impressive and included some of the leading lights of our...

Las Olas
[This is a guest post by Mark Jackson (ccie4736), a Fondu Ambassador in San Diego]
Pricing:
You’ll be looking at $9-15 per entree. By entree, I mean one of those rice and beans plus food type combinations. And then of course you’ll have to get margaritas. While the margaritas don’t come in a large fishbowl, they do pack a punch. When I go here with three or more people, I...
Fonduing in Portland
[This is a guest post by Maddy Forinash (maddyeff), a Fondu Ambassador in Portland]
Hey foodies! My name is Maddy and I hail from Portland, Oregon. As a college student I appreciate restaurants where my dollar will go a long way, but I never sacrifice quality for quantity. As cities go, Portland—being the place where “young people go to retire”—is a wonderful spot for...
A Valentine’s Day Idea
[This is a guest post by Martin Molberg, a Fondu Ambassador in Copenhagen]
Visitor or local citizen, the perfect place to bring your loved one after dining out is at the historical building Rundetaarn (“the round tower”) in downtown Copenhagen. This one-day-a-year special event takes place on Valentine’s Day only. On the deck at the top of the tower, you have a great view over the...
Fitting Food to Your Function
[This is a guest post by Meghan Fay, a Fondu Ambassador in London]
We all want good food, but it’s also really important to get the right atmosphere for the occasion. No one wants to end up shouting the same thing over & over because you took your half-deaf gran to the loudest place on the high street. Or worse yet, do you want to go on a first date and end up at a table so small you...
Seattle’s Sutra: Enlightened Vegetarian Haute...
[This is a guest post by Elisa Mader, a Fondu Ambassador in Seattle!]
To dine at Seattle’s Sutra is to take part in a ceremony.
Quite literally, it begins with the beating of a gong, followed by a sort of prayer, a shout-out to the community farmers and foragers who contributed the fresh and unusual ingredients that make up the four-course meal you are about to receive. Then begins the...

Migrating an App Profile Page
We just migrated our app profile page and we think it would behoove you to consider it too. About a month ago, Facebook announced they would be removing all App Profile Pages on Feb 1, 2012. Having spent many hours trying to figure out exactly how they differed from normal Facebook Pages and whether or not to focus our energy on maintaining them, we can see where they are coming from.
So,...

Our Python foursquare library →
A couple months ago we wrote our own foursquare library for Python. The options out there didn’t really fit our needs or just felt lacking, so we rolled our own.
Last week I decided to clean it up for public consumption. Docs, unit tests, full endpoint coverage. All those good things that will make it useful to others.
A few features:
OAuth dance
full Core api endpoint coverage (read...
